Halloween Treat Bags

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

I made treat bags for Steel to take to pass out to his friends in his class.  I filled them with 'healthy' treats as required by our school.  The healthy treats included a mini bag of microwave popcorn and a snack bag of pretzels.  I also included a flashing button necklace.  I stuffed all three into a pumpkin decorated cellophane bag and staples a treat bag tag to the top to keep closed.

I made the treat bag tag using my Silhouette:

I designed a tag using Silhouette Studio software and arranged them to cut out 4 tags per 1 - 8.5 x 11 black sheet of cardstock.  I cut orange cardstock as well to go underneath the writing.

I folded the tags in half and used a sharpie to fill in the letters instead of tediously glue the little paper letter centers to the tag.

I stapled them to the tops of the treat bags.

Love my Silhouette!!!

Cardinal Costume

Once a Cardinal, Always a Cardinal...
That is Steel's School Motto.  He didn't win the costume contest at the Boo Bash at the school but I think he should have.  Have you ever seen such a cute cardinal?  The tutorial isn't the greatest because I really winged it and just kept making Steel try it on to measure, etc.

Cardinal Football Tee

This is my adorable model, Steel.  I'm thinking that he would rather show you the picture on the wall instead of his new shirt.  Who knows?!  He sure is cute though.  =)

I made it using a design that I cut out of vinyl on my Silhouette and a mixture of bleach/water in a spray bottle.

Canned Sweet Peppers

More peppers from our garden!!  For those who missed my Canned Jalapeno Post.  We had more peppers than we knew what to do with.  What I didn't stuff, I canned.  Then at the end of the growing season, I was so sick of peppers, I gave them away.  I needed them gone.  lol.  These should be ready to try and just a couple of weeks.

Make Your Own Dishwasher Detergent

I finally finished up my box of dishwasher detergent and it was time to make my own.  I found several recipes floating around with slight variations.  I can say that this works great for me.  I use the borax and washing soda for my own laundry soap and had some epsom salt on hand for garden use.  I just needed to grab some Lemi Shine.  I found it in the same aisle as my borax and washing soda.

Recipe
2 cups of Borax
2 cups of Super Washing Soda
2 cups of Lemi Shine
1 cup of Epsom Salt

Directions
Add 2 T of mixture for each load of dishes.

I wrote the recipe on the old dishwasher detergent container that I used to store my new concoction so I would have it on hand as needed.

Steel's First Grade School Picture

My handsome first grader!  He actually (half) smiled this year.  Mom is so proud.

We are still in football mode around here.  This is our last week!!!  This mom cannot wait for it to be all over.  I should be back in full blog mode next week!
