Pittsburgh Fan Blitz 2012

We traveled to Pittsburgh this past weekend to go to the Pittsburgh Fan Blitz at Heinz Field.  They had a small mini football skill camp for kids where the kids got to practice drills on the field for an hour and a half.  Steel had a great time and got to practice with our first round draft pick, David DeCastro.  We all had a great weekend!

Family Room Painting Complete

I finished painting the family room!  The cheap, flat paint was terrible!  I would try to scrub the dirt away and the paint came off but the dirt would stay!  Painting was a must.  AND...they painted all the doors and trim the same color as the walls.  It was bad, bad, bad!

I painted the walls SW6086 Sand Dunewith Sherwin Williams SW6086 Sand Dune Duration Home, satin finish.  Check out the color here.  Check out Duration Home here.

I painted the trim and doors with Sherwin Williams SW7006 Extra White Super Paint, semi gloss finish.  Check out the color here.  Check out Super Paint here

You can't really tell in the pictures but the new color is darker and less yellow than the old, yucky flat color.  Painting the trim white was a definite must but it also really sets off the color.  AND best of all...my walls are finally clean again!  If they get dirty, which they will, guess what...I can clean them!  Love it!

Here are some before and after shots.  It's kind of a hard to tell but I sure can.  Steel told me it looked new!  I love him!

Before (Yuck)
After (Ahhh!)

I still need to replace the light switch and electrical outlets.  I am switching out the cream color for white but I have more painting to do first!  All this room needs is some new carpeting, but the budget doesn't allow for that at this time.

I do have to mention that not only is this room painted which is a winter project (yes, late) complete but, it is also spring cleaned which is a SPRING project complete!  Yeah!

Waxed Stove Top

This is one of those...Why didn't I think of that...ideas!

Wax your freshly scrubbed clean stove top so that your next cleaning won't require the scrubbing!  What a great idea!  Done!

The Great Peanut Butter Fix

You will not believe this...

You're waxing your car and you get some unsightly wax on the black trim!  Well, you can take a trip to the Automotive Specialty store and throw back $13 for a bottle of Wizard's Black Renew...or...you can bust out the peanut butter out of your cupboard!  Yep, Peanut Butter!  I was just as shocked as you are now when I heard this tip from an Automotive Detailer at the neighbors house a couple weekend ago.  I haven't given it a try for myself but I am taking her word for it.  If you bust out the Peanut Butter before I do, I would love to hear how you it performs!

Parmesan Crusted Chicken

This is truly amazing!  We can't get enough!  I am ready to make a couple more pans asap!  It's so easy, too.  It only calls for 4 ingredients, a quick prep and 30 minutes in the oven!  That's it, nothing to it!

Transform with Spray Paint

I found some hooks for the foyer that I wanted to mount lower so that Steel could hang his own coats and a metal 'S' for decoration.  Well, once the my foyer project was nearing completion, I hung my finds and I wasn't entirely happy with the way it looked.  BUT...nothing a can of spray paint can't fix!

I busted out the Krylon:

Sidewalk Chalk Bin

Silhouette Project Idea:  I took Steel's Easter Bucket and made vinyl lettering to transform it into a Chalk bucket.  It will get lots of use this year.  Steel loves his chalk!

Foyer Project Complete

Winter/Spring Cleaning project complete!
My winter projects have turned into spring projects.  Funny how that happens when you procrastinate!  Have I mentioned that I hate painting?  Well, just in case you haven't caught that, I DO!  So since spring cleaning is needed.  I am tackling that as I sweep through each of the room that need painted.  My goal is to have the inside of the house completely repainted prior to Memorial Day weekend.  Wish me luck!!!  =)  Actually, a good nudge might work better!  This si going to be tricky because we are now quite busy with football and baseball.  We also have to get some outside projects done in the next couple weeks as well.  I better get on it!

So...about our foyer...

Foyer WordArt - Revisited

See my first Foyer WordArt post and tutorial here.

After looking at it for a few weeks, I decided that darker lettering would look better.  I think the white would look better on a darker wall.  Looking at them side by side now, I think I made a good choice.
