Soap Bottle Etching

Well, you have to look close but I etched my soap bottle that I have in my kitchen.  One is hand soap and the other is dish soap.  So simple.

1.  I used my (you guess it) Silhouette to cut out vinyl stencils.

2.  I used Armor Etch and painted it on the bottle and let set for 5 minutes.

3.  I rinsed it off under running water and peeled off the stencil.

Silicone Wristband Turned Key Fob

Saw this great idea at Dollar Store Mom and had to give it a whirl just needed some wristbands.  Imagine my surprise when Steel's football coach passed some out at his first practice a few weeks back.  I found some extra key rings in our key basket, I just needed to pick up some brads at the craft store.

Doritos Walking Tacos

So, it seems that we may have been the last to know about this little trick...  We have been told that these are sold at many sporting events.  Well, it is news to us.  We came across this idea on our summer trip to Cedar Point.  A Walking Taco.  It's a taco in a Doritos bag!  I love it!  Fun for parties.

Cucumber Salad

We had lots of cucumbers from our garden and what better way to use them but to make a cucumber salad.  This turned out fantastic!  There's lots of recipes out there and I took what sounded good out of a few and came up with this...

Super Hero Capes

I thought you might want to know how to make a cape for your own super hero.  I made the collar a bit too big because I was going for a more resting on the shoulder cape instead of a making a choker.  This didn't work out so well because it doesn't really rest of the shoulder, well it would but you wouldn't be able to move.  lol.  It serves the purpose and if I had to do it over, I would remedy this.

Potting Bench

We were driving down the street and saw this great weathered bench 4 or 5 houses down sitting on the side of the road.  Well, we were on our way out and I hoped that it would still be there on the way home.  It was!  However, the hub was no longer with me.  I told Steel that I wanted it and hoped that Daddy would be home soon so he could help me grab it.  Steel told me that he could help me carry it.  (Steel is 6.)  Well, after I thought about it, I decided we could walk down and see how heavy it was.  Not too bad!  Yes, I had my 6 year old help me garbage pick!  Technically, it wasn't garbage picking because it wasn't garbage day, right?

I am so excited.  I plan on putting this behind the garage and using it as a potting bench.  I'm kind of  thinking that, that is what it is supposed to be used for?  I just need to decide if I should stain it, or possibly white wash it.  What about turquoise blue washing it to give it a nice blue hue?  Should I see if I can clean the grayed appearance of it first?  Some help with ideas would be greatly appreciated!  I would like to protect it in some fashion so that I can use it for a few years.  It's a little wobbly and needs a little TLC but I think it will be great!!!

Liam's Funny Tee using Silhouette

Yet another T-shirt made with the help of my Silhouette.  I made this for a friend's little one.  I hope they send me a pic of him wearing it.

How I Did It (it you haven't seen my other tuts...)
1.  I designed the text using the Silhouette Studio, cut it out on vinyl and placed it on the shirt (upside down).  I placed the vinyl on the shirt without the help of transfer tape since the vinyl doesn't stick well to the fabric.  This takes a bit of time but it is well worth it.  Keep in mind that the finished product lines with not be that crisp but it does give a nice vintage feel.

2.  I took fabric paint and spread it out on a paper plate.

3.  I used a sponge brush and painted in the stencil.

4.  I removed the vinyl and used a hook tool to help with the smaller pieces.

Voila!

Pregnancy Picture Idea

Our Jacklyn is expecting!  I have decided to track her pregnancy with pictures and make a book of them for her after the big D day.  I cut out the lettering in vinyl on my Silhouette and just stuck it on a tank top.  My friend had a baby just a few months ago and told me that Old Navy had fabulous tank tops that were super stretchy that she could wear all the way up to her D day.  I thought about doing the fabric paint thing but it's kind of a waste to wear once, for one pic, right?  You can't tell in the pics that they are stickers, right?  I plan on taking pics every 4 weeks until she starts growing and then take them a little more often.  We may know if it's a boy or a girl at the next update!!!!

Ice Cream Stache

This may be a bit late in the game (seeings how the excitement of the ice cream truck has fizzled in our house) but I had this empty OxiClean container and decided to use it to stache cash for the ice cream truck.  I just had to jump on the Stache bandwagon.  lol.  It's kinda hard to get a good pic when the words are wrapping around the container, but you get the idea...

I designed the lettering with my Silhouette Studio, cut it out in vinyl (imagine me doing that!) and stuck it on an empty OxiClean container.

Super Hero Sunday - Installment No. 4 - Insert Sidekick

Every great Super Hero, like Captain Primrose, needs a Sidekick to have his back when fighting evil and evil doers.  We knew just the guy that would be perfect for the role...

This is Seb.

This is Seb as Sidekick Slim Jim.
On Seb's application for the job, his winning trait was that he could Slim Jim his way into homes in order to let Captain Primrose in to do his job of serving and protecting.

Garden Sign using wood burning tool

I made a garden sign using my wood burning tool.  I'm not completely pleased with the results but I figure it will take time to perfect this art.  It is quite difficult getting it to look good.  You have to have just the right pressure when writing and the grain of the wood gives you difficulty.  Perhaps I can try, try again another time.

Suncatcher Windchimes

I got my inspiration from www.crafter.org.  I took it one step further and made windchimes with our suncatchers.  This is a super easy project if you can tolerate the funky smell coming from your oven.  lol.  It's a bit weird but, it's over quickly and I sprayed some air freshener afterwards and all was good.  I would suggest putting them in the oven and spending some time outdoors while they are in the oven, just remember to take your kitchen timer with you!!!

30th Birthday Shirt using Silhouette

For those of you out there not up on the lingo...Beer-Thirty means time to drink.  Used in a sentence...  Is it Beer-Thirty yet?  or  Is it time to drink yet?  I made this for a friend turning the big 3-0.  Of course, I used my Silhouette to make the stencil.

And just in case you haven't seen any of my other tutorials on using the Silhouette to make a stencil for making a shirt...
